For Genealogists
General muster rolls (pääkatselmusrullat, Swedish generalmönsterrullor) list soldiers and often the farms that maintained their allotments. For the cavalry allotment system, the farmer-horseman (rusthållare) who provided the horse and maintained the soldier is also recorded, making these rolls valuable for researching both soldier and farming families.
The series spans 168 years, covering every major phase of Finland’s Swedish-era military history from the Thirty Years’ War through the Great Northern War, the mid-18th-century wars, and the Finnish War.
